Mr. Rose was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1949. He began his training in the Martial Arts in 1968 obtaining his 1st Degree Black Belt in Shudo-Kan Karate from National Karate Association Grandmaster S.A. Brock in 1970.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics from Eastern Illinois University in 1972, Mr. Rose opened the Rose School of Karate in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
He received his 5th Degree Black Belt Masters promotion from Grandmaster S.A. Brock in 1976 and was made Senior Vice President and Senior Board Member of the National Karate Association. He received his 7th Degree in 1986. In 1992 he became President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the C&S Self Defense Association and in 1994 received his 8th Degree Black Belt Grandmasters ranking.
On May 17, 2006, after training with the cane since 2003, Mr. Rose tested for his Black Belt in CaneMasters International from CaneMaster Bruce Vinciguerra and received his certificate from Grandmaster Mark Shuey Sr.
On May 21, 2007, the C&S Self Defense Association Governing Council awarded Grandmaster Rose a promotion to 9th Degree Black Belt at the association's All Disciple Retreat In Illinois.
Grandmaster Rose is a senior software engineer, analyst, and designer. His interests include: sailing, reading, programming, business, writing, cooking, backgammon, history, philosophy, psychology, meditation, and science. Grandmaster Rose resides in Dover, New Hampshire.
